I have had an entrepreneurial drive for as long as I can remember. At the age of 10, I had my own newspaper route, and by age 12, I was selling Regal Greetings & Gifts (catologues) to my neighbours on a monthly basis.
Later I would major in business at university, as well as being a member of Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE), an international non-profit organization that works with leaders in business and higher education to mobilize university students to make a difference in their communities while developing the skills to become socially responsible business leaders.
After working in the business world for several years I decided it was time to formally merge my worlds of business and technology -- I quit my job, moved back home (from Toronto) and took a 12-month accelerated 2nd degree program in computer science at Algoma University.
Upon graduating I created Adventures in Computing Camps and co-founded a local web design firm. Next I ventured out on my own to continue delivering computer camps and do web design and consulting as Digital Adventures.
This experience would eventually lead me to a position with Enterprise Centre Sault Ste. Marie, the small business division of the Sault Ste. Marie Economic Development Corporation. In the capacity of Small Business Advisor, and eventually General Manager, I spent several years working with and advising clients on operating and growing their small businesses. I would eventually move on to government where I continue to work as a business analyst and Strategic Business Advisor.
But I could not leave my entrepreneurial roots behind. In 2007, I took on a business partner and incorporated as Interactive Minds Inc. to continue operating Adventures in Computing Camps. I also continue operating Digital Adventures which encompasses my consulting, writing services, as well as online websites and initiatives.
